North Spokane’s Meeting Room will host a Dementia Friends Information Session at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026. The gathering will discuss dementia, describe aspects of living with it, and outline ways neighbors can help build a community that is more supportive of people affected by dementia.

The session also offers information for anyone concerned that a person they care about may be showing signs of dementia. SHIBA, a statewide network of trained volunteers, provides free, unbiased and confidential counseling connected to Medicare. Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington sponsors SHIBA locally and provides Medicare education, along with information and support related to dementia, memory loss and fall prevention.

Spokane County Library District says its in-person events are intended to welcome people with all abilities. Requests for hearing assistance, ASL interpretation or other ADA accommodations can be sent to comments@scld.org or made by calling 509.893.8200 at least five business days before the session.
