Preschool Storytime Set for Spokane Valley on Nov. 13

The 30-minute storytime includes books, songs and fingerplays, followed by hands-on learning activities.

The program begins with a half-hour built around picture books, songs and fingerplays. A second 30-minute segment gives preschoolers time to explore age-appropriate ideas through math, science, art and literacy activities.

Parents and caregivers participate in the play with their children. Along the way, the sessions develop literacy, social abilities and STEAM skills spanning science, technology, engineering, art and math. These are skills children need for kindergarten, and families can keep exploring the same concepts at home. Families may also get a library card for their child.

Additional Friday sessions are scheduled for November 20 and December 4, 11 and 18 in 2026. Library space is limited, so groups of at least 10 people need to call before attending. Accommodations such as hearing assistance can be requested by emailing comments@scld.org or calling 509.893.8200. Requests must arrive no fewer than five business days beforehand. Events are intended to welcome people with a range of abilities.
