Joe Lyons turned his South Crestline Street home into a yearly Halloween attraction after neighbors told him the area rarely saw trick-or-treaters. The front lawn and driveway now hold clowns, spiders, zombies, skull-faced figures and a chainsaw-carrying butcher. Visitors can find the display at 4302 S. Crestline St., with the experience best seen after dark.

Lyons builds the attraction with his 16-year-old daughter, Addisyn, who helps create and install the scene and dresses as a clown on Halloween night. The family effort also includes Joe’s parents, John and Mary Lyons, who live at the house. John hands out candy while dressed as Michael Myers, and Mary recalled a previous Halloween when the display drew a thousand people.

The setup takes two full weekends, and some larger figures cost $200 to $400 each. Lyons buys pieces through Spirit Halloween, Amazon, Facebook Marketplace and Halloween Express, while also making activation pads for the mechanical figures. Six fog machines help create the murky effect, and the family stores the display in a rented 10-by-20 storage unit. Lyons has expanded the electrical panel after early circuit problems and continues looking for room to grow the attraction.
